TWC Racing off-road adventures at King of the Hammers 2023

 
This past February, Toyota Walnut Creek Racing and car #4602 made their debut at the 2023 Progressive King of the Hammers (KOH), the largest and toughest one-day, off-road race in the world. Held on public lands in Johnson Valley, California, the race has evolved over the past 15 years to more than 1,052 teams competing before more than 80,000 fans in person and 2 million viewers online, earning it the title of fastest growing motorsport in the country.

Toyota Walnut Creek Racing competed in the Ultra4 series “Every Man Challenge” – there are 4 distinct classes and TWC competed in the 46oo stock class in a 2006 modified Toyota 4-runner with factory drivetrain. These cars come in all shapes and sizes, are capable of speeds over 100+ mph, and contain gear ratios as low as 100 to 1 for technical rock crawling. This year only 5 of 52 vehicles in the 4600 class crossed the finish line within the time cap. The TWC team showcased their unique capabilities during the race, and although they unfortunately timed out and were unable to finish, they did come in 11th in their class and are already looking forward to their next race in Montana in May and preparing for KOH 2024.
 

 
Ultra4 is a series that challenges drivers to compete in a wide variety of terrain from endurance desert racing, competition-style rock crawls, short course racing, and more. Currently, Ultra4 has races in the US, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand, taking place on both public lands and on private property around the world.
